Capella Amadeus String Chamber Orchestra was formed by Grace Soedargo in 1993 as an embodiment of her idealistic dream of having an ensemble of international quality in Indonesia. From there, Capella Amadeus has pushed its boundaries in many ways: touring cities in Indonesia and South-East Asia, working with international conductors and artists, namely Cecilia Barczyk, Phillip Green. Prof. Christiane Hutcap, Robert Brown, Pierre Oser, Jahja Ling, Gudni Emilsson, and David Riniker of Berlin Philharmonic.

The String Chamber orchestra grew into a Symphonic Orchestra with the help of German wind teachers provided by the Goethe-Institut. Celebrating Capella Amadeus' 20th anniversary in 2013, the Amadeus Symphony Orchestra performed its first symphonic concert in Jakarta.

Amadeus Brass may still be in its infancy, but the ensemble has awed audiences with its powerful brassy sound, performing compositions that Jakarta has never heard before. With the continuous guidance from teachers from Europe, the ensemble will continue to grow and develop their exceptional sound to the fullest.
